It produces the You-R® OPEN OPerating ENvironment which is the world’s leading RFID platform for system integrators. “RF-ID Enablement Packages” provides system integrators and software producers with a rapid and expert market entry to RFID. RF-iT Solutions implements reference projects in strategic market segments in order to facilitate the multiplication of solutions through certified You-R® OPEN partners in the rapidly developing RFID market. With technical services, such as studies, technology assessments, benchmarking, technology consulting and pre-sales support, RF-iT Solutions functions as the technical backbone for system integrators. The company operates the RFID Solution Excellence Center at its company office in Graz, Austria.

About RFID

Radio Frequency IDentification is a method of storing and remotely retrieving data using devices called RFID tags or transponders. An RFID tag is a small object, such as an adhesive sticker, that can be attached to or incorporated into an object. RFID tags contain antennas to enable them to receive and respond to radio-frequency queries from another RFID transceiver. Passive RFID tags require no internal power source, as they receive their power from the interogating transceiver, which is usually contained with a handheld device or label printer. In addition I/O devices, light barriers, light stacks, PLCs, barcode readers are often required in addition in total solutions.

About RFID Middleware

The term RFID Middleware has been used so widely that it has lost its meaning.

Rather, we prefer to differenciate between an Edgeware layer and a Process Management Software layer. Edgeware is Software running at the border of the IT network. RFID Process Management Software adds business context to basic RFID data and routs it aggregation to backend IT Systems. You-R® OPEN makes RFID Process Management Software operate independently of the RFID technology used or the device and chip manufacturer. Savant like functions pre-process RFID and other device data. Additionally user programmed scenarios give high flexibility to the application oriented pre-processing and combination of multiple devices. Examples of such functions are: Get trigger from light barrier, read barcode, calculate ePC code, write ePC code to tag via RFID reader, report result to higher software layer and visualise it at a light stack. RFID Solutions without Process Management Software use You-R® OPENs direct interface to e.g. an ODBC database or Application Software. This leading RFID OPerating ENvironment has in addition to basic Edgeware functionality IT tools for the various project Phases (development, installation and deployment, operation, maintenance, upgrade).

RF-iTs TUBE Methodology

The definition of a working communication Channel from Tag to IT is called You-R® TUBE. TUBEs define tag, data model, antennas, reader, smoothing, filtering, scenarios, IT interface and all parameters required by the different objects.
